Major Annoucement from Me
I realized something today: the lack of Muslim commentators in the press is depressing. Muslims who know how to debate are silent, afraid of the McCarthyism that exists today.
I think we need Muslims who can speak for Islam to speak for Islam. I don't mean the defensive, apologetic Muslims but the Muslims who can only defend Islam with the truth but expose the hypocrisy of the people who attack Islam -- show the flaws of their beliefs and history and I say we got a debate on our hands.
So having said that, I think it's time that I speak up for the truth so that all people can know...

The problem is: we have so many different interpretations of Islam, that when someone does speak up, cannot truly represent 1.5 billion believers. We have are so sub-divided (sunnis, shi'as, wahhabist, moderates, neomoderatist, sufis, etc etc), that we cannot have ONE voice. Sad, but true.
first, I dont think that it is a problem that we have so many interpretations of Islam, however, I shall point out that these different interpretations are not of Islam in whole, rather, in details and secondary issues, ways of understanding something and that is a blessing!
plus, this is not true of us alone, if you look into Judaisim or Christianity, you will find the same thing, even with man made systems such as communisim!
I have to agree with The Thinking Brother on what he is saying, I mean there are so many anti-Islam speakers out there and no one to really face them, idiots such as Coren and Pipes and so many others, in fact it seems that their dumb hate of Islam is what made them who they are!
our struggle should be in all life's aspects, may Allah guide us to serve Him in the best way.

I think good examples of 'non apologetic' muslims inlude the representatives of the Islamic council of Victoria in Australia. For the past year, they have been making the ummah proud and speaking on mainstream media issues in an artiulate and eloquent manner that captures the attention of muslims and non muslims alike.
